The management of Lagos State University – LASU has thrown out properties belonging to some students of the College of Medicine students from halls of residence. It was gathered that the management earlier asked graduating students to resume as ordered by the state government and informed others to move out their properties from the hostels.
However, some of the students that were asked to move out their belongings were unable to do so before the resumption which led to the management throwing out all their belongings.
When the Coordinator, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations of the university, Mr Ademola Adekoya, was contacted over the development, he said he was ignorant of any of such and said he will comment when he has enough information concerning that.
However, according to the Acting Provost of the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Prof Abiodun Adewuya, students were asked to move all their belongings out of the hostel because since March as there were plans to renovate the hostels.
“We are renovating our hostels, we had given the notice a long time ago, the students’ body sent the notice to all the classes and the idea is that after a deadline if there are things that are still there, we will move them out so that we can renovate the rooms, that’s the situation.” He stated.
